Hi, I’m Laura, an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor specialising in work with children, young people, and their families. For over 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting families through life’s ups and downs, working across schools, healthcare, early help services, the police, and charitable organisations.

At The Remus Centre—a nurturing space I created with care—we take a gentle, creative, and holistic approach to emotional wellbeing. Using natural materials like sand, clay, and water, along with the healing power of play, I offer children and teens a safe and engaging environment to explore their feelings and build resilience.

Whether your child is feeling anxious, low, or struggling to manage big emotions, I’m here to help. Together, we’ll find ways to support their emotional growth and bring more calm, confidence, and connection into your family life.

I specifically specialise in:
-
Attachment/relationship difficulties
-
Grief and loss, including bereavement or changes in family structure
-
Support for neurodivergent children navigating emotional and social experiences
My therapeutic approach is grounded in a blend of well-established modalities that help me tailor support to each child’s unique emotional world:

-
Transactional Analysis – helping children understand their inner voices and patterns of behaviour, and build healthier ways of relating to others
-
Psychodynamic – exploring how early experiences and relationships shape current emotions and behaviours, often working gently with the unconscious
-
Humanistic – placing the child at the heart of the process, nurturing their strengths, creativity, and capacity for growth in a safe, accepting space

This integrative approach allows me to meet children and young people exactly where they are, offering compassionate support that’s both insightful and empowering.

Alongside my twenty years of front-line practice, I also have experience of providing training and consultancy to organisations around building child-centred and trauma responsive environments.
